SAUDI ARABIA, LAND OF SURPRISES

When you think of Saudi Arabia you think of desert, but it is much more than that. These pictures are from a recent excursion on the outskirts of Riyadh. In how many places in the world can you go from a congested city of six million to absolute emptiness in just a few minutes?

I have been in this country two years, and I never thought I would find beauty here, but I was wrong. There is great beauty in the desert, and solitude, and peace.

In these rock formations you can find evidence of marine life. Incredible as it may seem, all this desert was under water millions of years ago!

It just goes to who that, no matter where you are in the world, you can always find interesting places.
