Irony: Advanced Traditional Town

2010-07-18

A couple of weeks ago, I went on a trip towards the Northern part of the Philippines just a couple of hours away from my hometown.

It was not very new to me as I have been there a couple of times when I was younger.

It did not interest me to go there at first as I thought that there was nothing really special about that place.

It was still the old conservative town that I have known before and the people were still traditional as well.

When we got to the Bangui Wind Mills, I was really astounded!

It was a very overwhelming site! There were wind mills all over the place. The province, being the farthest northern province has been receiving low voltage of power.

For this, the government pursued to establish this wind farm to further improve the distribution of electric power to the land. I’m not very familiar with Asia that much, but I heard it is the first of its kind.

There is one thing that was a bit disappointing though.

There is not much to do once you are already at the farm aside from watching the windmills and of course, swim at the beach right next to the farm.

The place is not yet very developed as tourists can only take photos, swim a little and breathe fresh air coming from sea and the mills.

Bangui is about 3 hours away from my hometown but it is definitely a learning adventure.
