A Dance for Everyone

2011-08-19

I went to a friend’s wedding when I was in England this spring. It reminded me of my own wedding 9 years ago, because the bride and groom chose to have a barn dance during the wedding party.

A barn dance is similar to a line dance in America. Traditional English music is played, and people are told how to do the steps of each dance as they go along.

It’s a great way for people of all ages and abilities to join in and have fun. It’s more usual for weddings in England to play current pop music, but this often excludes the older generation…and also those who can't dance!

Do you dance at wedding parties in Japan? What kind of music do you dance to?
