Vacation in Egypt

2011-08-29

We traveled from our home in Israel to the Hilton Taba resort, which is a stone's throw away from the border with Israel, and the car ride took about four and a half hours.

The day before our departure there were several attacks on Israeli families and a bus by Palestinian gunmen on a highway we were to drive towards our destination. Many people died in these attacks and several were hospitalized. We were very afraid to travel and actually considered canceling our vacation.

The day of our trip, we woke up and decided to take a longer route to reach our holiday destination. We prayed to God our travels would lead us safely to Egypt, and we did arrive unharmed to the resort.

We enjoyed our 7 nights at this magical place. We went scuba diving, took belly dancing lessons, learned basic Arabic and tried mouth-watering Egyptian food. Although we were on a somewhat closed compound and far away from Cairo, the Pyramids and all the other wonders Egypt has to offer, we enjoyed this part of Egypt very much. It's the area which is still somewhat 'undiscovered' by tourists.

I'm attaching several pictures we took on our dives, simply to show you the magical underwater world that lies in the Red Sea waters. We had a lot of fun and would definitely return to Taba, Egypt again soon. If anyone is ever considering a visit to this area, I would love to discuss our travels with you and provide some valuable tips and recommendations.

Fall is just around the corner, enjoy what's left of the summer!
