Scotland's independence referendum
2014-05-24
Many Japanese people find it interesting to learn about the UK. Did you know, it’s actually made up of 4 countries? England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.
The United Kingdom officially started in 1707 when England and Scotland joined together but this year Scotland might separate if Scottish people vote “yes” to independence in the upcoming referendum. As you would expect, this is a very hot topic in the UK right now!
Here’s an interesting article about it from the BBC. Q&A: Scottish independence referendum http://www.bbc.com/news/uk-scotland-13326310

The referendum will be held on Thursday, 18 September, 2014 and I will definitely be watching the news carefully then!
